I hope I am getting the whole editing thing down. I like to think I am. I have finished an edit pass of the Harp Story. I think it reads tons better. I need to come up with a better title for it though.

Been a few days since I posted here. RL has a habit of rearing up like this.

So the projects...

I took a few days off due to the RL stuff. As I was nearing sleep the other day I scribbled down a lil idea that has exploded into a larger scene. It is not what I usually write. It is first person present tense which, I admit, I hate reading. I am not having trouble writing it. It is almost finished. I think another 1500 words or so and I can call it done and ready for Beta Readers. I think I have three betas. I might want a couple more I don't know. I have a couple markets in my submit it to list.

Bastard Prince is being poked at. I am going over the outline again because I deviated. Again. Ahh this is going to be a long time project for me. Ahh well.**throws hands up in the air**

Island Story 1 I am going back over my outline. I think I figured out my MC's motives which has been giving me massive headaches. I do love my is;and stories. So light and fluffy. Like well cooked scrambled eggs.
Please, don't ask why that even fits. It just does damnit!

Island Story 2, tentative title The Forbidden Island previously known as NaNo Thing 2009. I haven't really done much with this one just yet. Some editing here and there, and re-reading for the sheer fun of it. I enjoy it. I think this is a good thing.

Windwalkers Oh gosh this is a pretty one. Nice and shiny.

I am attempting to edit the Harp Story. Again. I have my eye on the L. Ron Hubbard's Writer's of the Future contest. I don't have anything to lose.

Ok so I have a bouncy internet. I'm writing this up hoping against hope that I'll be able to get it to post.

Ok so I am editing and trying to tighten things up. I thought I would share here.

I hadn't realized how long it had been since I posted here. RL is ramped up and going at a million miles a min and I have hardly had time to turn around twice.

First of all: [livejournal.com profile] raecarson has an announcement here. Go congratulate her muchly. She deserves it.

Second;
Editing is going slowly. I've been practicing, some days thinking I am doing really good, other days feeling like an utter looser. Sometimes I think I know what I'm doing, other times I wonder who am I kidding? What the heck do I know?

Right now I'm editing my harp story. checking over the wonderful crits I got (thank you betas for taking the time to crit it) and trying to make it better. I just worry that I am making it worse. **sigh**

I have been editing in small bites, and fighting a huge dose of "I'maloseritis" over my decision to re-write BP. I may shelve it for a while to get some more distance emotionally between me and it.

Thirdly
I am working on my UF idea. It is coming along slowly.

My wordcount is low, mainly because when I finally get a chance to write it is usually at night and I am beat. Several times this week I have fallen asleep at the keyboard trying to write. :P

but I am writing. I won't give up.

My main goal at the moment is to finish editing the Harp story so I can toss it back out at my wonderful betas (if you have the time to beta it that is).

I need to change my icons. I'm getting bored with these...

BP editing is stalled for several reasons. The main one is that I have decided that it needs a rewrite. Ok, cool I can handle that. Somehow time has slipped through my fingers and I find getting back into the groove of writing very challenging. Not impossible, but I'm juggling a lot.

I have pulled out the Harp Story and re-read it. Funny, last time I read it, after several nice people gave me crits on it, I cringed and felt sick to my stomach trying to read it so I shelved it again. Now I am able to look at it and not have that reaction. Interesting, no?

I don't recall setting any major goals with writing this year (and I haven't gone through this lj to double check if I have or not) but I did discover something interesting thanks to [livejournal.com profile] glassquill. she reminded me about the Women in Fantasy issue that will be coming out Aug of 2011. She suggested I submit.

Sometimes I think [livejournal.com profile] glassquill has way to much belief in my writing.

But the idea is appealing.

I have two shorts that I can think of that would fit the mag. They do need editing so I am going to tackle that. In my spare time.

The submission deadline is Nov. 15. I think I should be able to whip it into shape by then.

anyways, I am still here. Still writing, still have story ideas. Still writing. Take care all.

so last night I finished BP ch 1 edit and I THOUGHT I posted about it.

But it seams the post got eaten.

I did some trimming. Ch1 1 started with 2985 words and is 2968 words. I added some I took away... I hope it improved it. Trying to get into Zander's head again. I always enjoy writing/working on his stories.

Now on to ch 2.
