Yesterday I forgot to post the actual word count of the day. 3413. Yes I am bragging. :P
I have made a decision to write 2000 words a day. So far I have been meeting that. I'm not always staying with the same WIP.
And now for a rant.
One big issue I have with writer wannabes is this whining about time and writing.
They spend so much time, bitching about how little time they have to write. I feel like shaking them. There are people who don't have time, but they don't spend their free time bitching. They write in their free time.
If you want to write. Write. Stop complaining. Now I'm not talking about the periodic venting. EVERYONE has to vent. No I'm talking about that person who will spend hours talking about their story only to point out every excuse they can come up with to not write. They don't have time, they don't have the right 'atmosphere' (which I can understand to a point) but every excuse comes up which leads me to think that they really don't want to write at all.
Writing is hard. It is exhausting. Every few days I step back and take a break, do a recharge. If you want easy... writing ain't it.
I have nine kids. I have a full time job just taking care of them, on top of the housework and daily things I do to keep our house together. I know people who work 50 to 60 hours a week, have hellacious commutes and leave my word counts in the friken dust!
Mind you my point isn't about wordcount. My point is writing. You want it. Do it. Don't complain, don't whine day in and day out. Just write. Even if it is only 100 words in a small 15 min stretch. 100 a day for 30 days is 3000 words. Just an example. That's a good count. Words down, story told THAT is the important part.
I have sympathy if I see writing progress, even the smallest amount. Because it is writing. Complaining constantly will have me ready to rip your head off. :P
