I just finished reading Belgarath the Sorcerer and am preparing to read Polgara the Sorceress (both by David Eddings for those of you who don't know). I have run across a lot of bad mouthing the Belgariad Series but I have to say I loved it. When I think about how successful as a writer I want to become, I think Eddings and McCaffery.

I love the complexity of the worlds, the richness of the characters. I know often when people discuss cliches they will dredge up Eddings and point at Garian and say "Cliche! Cliche!"

I stopped worrying about cliches a long time ago, I don't recall when. In fact when I sat down to brainstorm BP I decided to toss as many cliches as I could in it because I thought it was funny. The story has evolved but there ya have it.

I love me some Eddings. It has been too long since I could pick up a book and read it without an internal editor dissecting it.

Anyways, I really ought to write up a ramble about the matter of cliches but right now I have to do housework and mundane things and I only have about 13k to go to get the wordcount for nano. Not sure how I am going to wrap up the story, I'm worried it will wrap up too soon or not wrap up at all. **shrugs**

No sweat. I'll figure something out.
